Technical Difficulty

Summits vary from easy to intermediate. Our ANGM certified mountain guides will teach you the techniques required to properly use your crampons, ice axe, and harness. No technical climbing skills required.

Do I need my own crampons and Ice axe?

We provide you with all of the necessary mountain safety equipment for volcanic summits, if you have your own gear that is in good working order we recommend you use what you are familiar with. Be sure to try things on at home so as to avoid major complications in the mountains.

Will we be roping up?

Depends, your guide will have a rope if the conditions deem necessary and will instruct you on the proper techniques used to ascent in a team while roped up.

Do we need to cross glaciers?

We do have routes that cross glaciers where it is mandatory to rope up. However, it is not the normal of our summit routes to cross glaciated terrain.

Can I look into the crater and see lava?

Villarica Volcano is not in our normal tour list but if you would like to visit it we can line it up. The craters of the volcanos in our immediate zone have snow and glacier filled craters.
